Horehound Longhorn

Another moth from me and another that I have never seen or photographed before. It's a horehound longhorn and is quite scarce. I've included another pic in extras which shows the moth's lovely eau-de-Nil eyes and its multi-coloured metallic scales. Its scientific name comes from the fascia or band/ribbon of purple across its wings.

I've noticed a slightly dead nettleish weed in my favourite area of waste ground and never bothered to identify it. Turns out it's black horehound, also known as Stinking Roger on account of its unpleasant smell but beloved of this insect. It used to be recommended as a cure for the bite of a mad dog.
