Fun and Games
Another busy day today.
Luckily it began with another fabulous breakfast. Chocolate cake this morning rather than crumble. Along with the delicious bread, croissants, jams, brioches, semolina and yoghurts!
After breakfast - and a quick walk to the end of the lane to say bonjour to the cows - we went with my mum and dad to Billy's Cider Farm.
Ferme de Billy was established by Jacques de Billy in 1651and it's fabulous!!
When I was little it was just a farm where you could go and buy cider and apple juice. Now it's expanded into a lovely shop and restaurant - along with an orchard, a thirteenth century chapel and donkeys!!
And scooters!!
We had it completely to ourselves and had apple juice and coffee just sitting and soaking up the wonderful atmosphere. Then we wandered down to see the donkeys and the beautiful chapel in the orchard. What a wonderful place!!
From there we headed back to our village stopping at a picnic area on the way for bread, cheese, pate, celeriac coleslaw, tea, biscuits and other goodies.
Then we went to the Chateau Fontaine-Henry in our village which hasn't been sold in 800 years and is still privately occupied. We had a fabulous half hour in the garden playing with all the wooden games - quoits, skittles, shuffeboard and lots others. See extras for Miss E and Papa playing a ludicrously difficult game where you have to get a ball in a horseshoe up to the top of a board with holes in it.
The tour of the castle was fascinating. It was our guide's first tour in English and she did brilliantly!
Then it was back to the seaside!! We went to St Aubin-sur-Mer and the Little Misses had fun on the beach while we sat in a cafe on the front drinking hot chocolate. We moved to the restaurant next door for dinner and had a wonderful meal - moules-frites for my mum and dad, giant king prawns with garlic and ginger for me and Miss L, pizza for Miss E and fish and chips for Mr K. And ice-cream, creme brûlée, caramel galettes, beer and coffee. Delicieux!!!
We started The Longest Day once the Little Misses were in bed. But only managed about half an hour before falling asleep!
