Wide Angle Wednesday: Smeaton's Lighthouse

I know the theme for today is nature and the main focus for this blip is a man made object, but it is set against the natural background of Plymouth Hoe and Drake's Island; what's more, in its original location on Eddystone Reef, this lighthouse was instrumental in helping humans deal with the natural world! It was moved here as a monument to its eponymous designer.

After our post-breakfast stroll on the Hoe, we headed inland for some retail therapy: Tess was delighted to find an outfit for some posh do's later in the year and I raided the 2 for £10 CD racks in HMV, reliving my misspent youth and filling in gaps in my collection ( or at least bands that I've only got on original vinyl) with Best Ofs: Jethro Tull, Family, Yes and the Stax label.

Back home, and with Tess out at Keep Fat, I am currently educating the neighbours, starting by going the full prog rock mile with Yes!

After a final frappe on the sea front, there was time to stop at Buckfast Abbey for a wander round and lunch on the way back.

After a late return from the Rod Stewart concert last night, I've back blipped yesterday's music themed entry.
