Summer day
Well I didn't do much today after our hectic weekend with the children. I went to the discussion group in the morning where the topic was "what does the coming of the Jedi have to say about the place of religion in modern British society?'. It was an interesting topic. Some said it couldn't be a religion because it was made up for a movie - others thought that was no more daft or less valid than stuff made up and written down. Then it was called a cult, so we discussed what was the difference between a religion and a cult Who decides!
In the afternoon I sat in the garden and read my book, a biography of Gertrude Bell. The author seems to confuse England and Britain, and the Labour and Liberal parties, but she is not British and knows a lot more than I do about Mesopotamia and Arabia, so on the whole I'm enjoying it.
Our late tulips survived the deer and I like the soft colour with the lime green and the brighter purple of the rhododendron in the background.
