Back Here in Two Weeks

George and Kat stayed overnight from the Saturday, but didn't roll in until after 3 am on Sunday morning. When they woke, neither felt in a fit state to drive to Tissington to hear the banns read for the last time.

So I rolled out of bed, hauled on clothes and drove hell for leather along the A 50 and north to Tissington to arrive at the church while the small congregation was singing the second verse of the introductory hymn, so not TOO late. We'd miss hearing the banns read at the start of the service. George and Kat will be married in this church on 18th June.

They needed to chat to the vicar and to the organist about the music for the bride's entry, the couple's exit, and during the signing of the registry. The organist very kindly played me the opening of Widor's Toccata, but we agreed it was neither the organ nor the church for that power of music.

All that decided, we adjourned to the Bluebell Inn across the road where the pies are very big. I had Chilli Spring Chicken. I felt that it had been smothered in chilli dipping sauce and topped with melted cheese. The chips were alright.

George and Kat had to abandon their pies in order to meet the videographer in Tissington Village, so asked me to ask the staff to put the remains into doggy bags. Vacuum packed doggy bags too.

A more leisurely drive home just in time to see Djokovich defeat Andy Murray in the French Open.

Garlic prawns for tea.
