Sold! Number 47
My lovely brother who leads a hectic life working for a global organisation and often jetting all over the world, still has a number of boxes of Mum's stuff in his garage. So many boxes that his car won't fit in! I have suggested he brings them all down to me and we will put them in the auction at Hythe. In the interest of research I need to attend auctions to ensure we will be selling at the right auction house! That's my excuse anyway! Today I hadn't even looked at the catalogue, we arrived at around lot number 30 and just hung around, inching our way further into the room. As I turned to look at the auctioneer (now at lot 40) I saw it! A huge oriental style vase that was just what I wanted for the tiny lobby at our front door to hold umbrellas and walking sticks. I managed to register just in time as it was lot number 46! I told myself £30 was my limit and got it for £14. Bargain! I wasn't paying a great deal of attention when I saw the elephant. It was going to sell for £12, so on impulse I held my card up (47) and I got it for £14 too.
When I went to pay for my items and collect them I discovered there were two elephants! They are currently residing on the peculiar off centr fireplace..
