The chaps
We had Ella and Nathaniel to stay after daughter's in-law's party. We had to be up and out this morning to drop them at home before picking old friends Carole and David from Newcastle Station. Ella had to travel home in her PJs as she didn't get round to dressing herself in time. She was perplexed to learn Carole had been her Mummy's English teacher. Carole and I met on the CND bus to a demo at the USAF base at Molesworth.
We had a lovely afternoon in the sunny garden, and in the evening more friends came to eat with us. I did a salad starter of mozzarella, garden peas, avocado and physalis, with some lemon-infused olive oil and a bit of mint. We had new potatoes in a garlic, grainy mustard and olive oil dressing, and a spinach, pine nut and egg pie, and salad. Pudding was meringues with strawberries soaked in strawberry vodka, and a dollop of cream.
The blip is David, Mr C and Colin jolly after the port and cigars. (Well red wine and coffee).
