For many years this scene was a familiar one and there were no signs of apple trees near here so this must have grown from a discarded apple core. Dozens of bees were buzzing around the tree on the side of St Leonards Crag near Kaim Head in Holyrood Park. Behind can be seen part of the steep yellow gorse covered slopes beneath Salisbury Crags with the silhouette of Edinburgh’s High Street in the background. Tomorrow Queens Drive below will be full of runners taking part in the marathon and other races and today many walkers were enjoying the lovely sunshine after the last few days of dismal weather.
