…or mini Red Hot Pokers, although they are quite a bit larger this year than when we planted them. The purple and red flowers behind them are petunias which are rampantly beautiful right now. There are several metal birds, which I hope will just barely qualify as animals.

This is just one small section of our 'mound garden' which was designed by daughter Dana and is so flourishing that it is just about covering all of the many, many pounds of rocks she found in the field, carried down 30 steps and artistically arranged in this garden which was once a boggy patch of grass and a two foot deep spa-type 'pool' that didn't drain properly and wasn't really our style. The grandkids liked it until it filled with algae and couldn't be drained…The neighbor's dog liked it too,….

We like the simple pot with just enough moving water to delight the birds and keep away the mosquitoes. which replaced the 'pool'.
