Racing Rubber Duckies!
Just catching up with my blips for the last 3 days as I stayed at my sister's over in Essex for a few days.
It was an absolutely beautiful day. My sister, nephews and I went to the Harwich Sea Festival where there was a 'Duck Race' held from one short pier to another. 1,500 plastic ducks were let out into the harbour, all numbered. People paid £1 per duck and the first 3 to reach the 'finish line' were winners. I must admit we chuckled when we saw them, as we were expecting them to be bigger I suppose and fill up quite a large area..but as you can see, it doesn't really look like how you'd imagine 1,500 ducks to look!
The Harwich Light Boat, RNLI lifeboats etc. were open for the public to explore, so we climbed a few tricky stairs (without managing to tumble down, or end up in Harwich Harbour) and (of course) had the essential greasy chips and ice cream! We then went on to Walton-on-the-Naze and stayed on the beach, finding crabs etc. until 8.00. A lovely day!
