Edit: The wasp was alive. It was on its back because I'd flicked the tarp it was on to get it off. It made a grab for the camera lens and held on very close to my hand. I shook it off in fright and didn't see where it went. I spent an anxious couple of minutes wondering if it was somewhere on my clothing.
