Hobbs's Run

Summer Street

This is Summer Street in Orange, New South Wales. Orange has a population which is a little over 40,000, making it one of the larger inland regional cities in the state. As it turned out there's a watchmaker out here who specialises in the restoration of vintage timepieces and who appears to have the parts we need to fully repair my Dad's Seiko Lordmatic. Hopefully it will be "good-as-new" in a fortnight's time. We also took the opportunity to catch up with an old friend that we don't get to see nearly often enough.

Orange has a fascinating past and a good many key historical events have taken place here over the last two centuries - back when the country was a lot less Sydney/Melbourne centric than it is today. An interesting feature of the CBD are these historical plaques often including photographs dating from the mid to late nineteenth century.

Speaking of photographs, this one was taken on my phone. Don't tell Donnawanna but this image is probably fully as good as what I might have taken with an actual camera .... had I remembered to bring one.
