Hobbs's Run

Shadow Shoot

I am lucky that I shot this when I did as clouds started rolling in from the west shortly afterwards ... but no matter. My shadow and I were out with the (you guessed it) fisheye lens. I had specifically come here to try to shoot the full (albeit) distorted run of Scenic World's "Skyway" gondola from the east terminus to the west.

Try as I might I was surprised to find that there was something always in the way (such as a cliff or a tree or rock) which prevented an uninterrupted view of the span. There is another position I might hike to which will probably allow me to get the job done but it was too far away and far too cold for me to try today. Okay then - just for now - here is the eastern section.

If you look closely (IN LARGE) you can see the yellow and glass Skyway car just departing from the visible terminus. Of interest also is that big black (and somewhat defaced) metal housing for the arc lights which used to shine upon the nearby Katoomba Falls of an evening. Of minor interest is the shadow itself, which in its flattering distortion, suggests that I might actually be thin. That'll be the day.
