Ullswater

First stop this morning was Pooley Bridge. No, that’s not quite right as we had to stop for a bull (with a ring in it’s nose) in the road. Three farmers were trying to coax it into a field and it had other ideas.

Had a wander up the fell towards Askham taking a circular route via The Cockpit (a stone circle) and Heughscar Hill. Discovered on return that it’s a Wainwright and is described in the book as ‘a gem for aged fellwalkers’. That’s us.  The photo was taken from the path down, looking across Ullswater to Helvellyn and surrounding hills.

Then on to Rheged and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition (after a coffee …. no cake). Got half way round but there were no seats for a rest so we drove into Penrith, bought my brother’s birthday present (a month late) and then went back to see the other half of the photos.

An extra of campers in the stone circle.
