Tallest Public Art in GB
‘The Orbit Tower’ was commissioned as a lasting legacy of the London Olympic Games, 2012. British-Indian sculptor, Anish Kapoor created this 114.5 metre (376 feet) tall sculpture & observation tower in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London.
It is being modified to incorporate the world’s longest (178m) tunnel slide, designed by Carsten Höller. The idea was originally envisioned by the London Legacy Development Corporation as a way to attract more visitors to the tower. The slide, which will include transparent sections to give a "different perspective" of the twisting red tower should be completed and ready for Summer 2016.
