Elgin Cathedral

Oh so many photos could've been blipped today and it was hard to choose not only from individual photos but from topic of photo too.

At the beginning of the summer holidays I asked my children to each write a list of activities they would like to do over the coming 7 weeks (eeeek!). They were told that we wouldn't necessarily do them all and I'd likely choose 1 activity per week, if we did more than 1 fine, but if not, then they could easily find things to do themselves and it stopped the frustration of me having to listen to' What are we doing today Mum' question that my daughter has asked every day of the summer holidays previously.

So on my daughter's list, amongst others was 1. Go on a train and 2. Visit Granny.
So since my mum lives in Elgin (64 miles away) and thanks to Scotrail's Kids Go Free ticket I decided to combine the 2 activities.

So off we went to Elgin on the train. You would think my 12 year old daughter had never been on a train in her life LOL, but her love of Harry Potter also helped the excitement...she was extremely disappointed that on asking the refreshment trolley man if he watched Harry Potter, his answer was no.

So I took photos at the train station, photos on the train, photos round Elgin and photos on the way back again.

But I think this beauty wins. This is Elgin Cathedral.

Actually I used to live a 5 minutes throw to the left of this building for the best part of 7 years and passed it every day on the way to school. We did the whole history thing about it at school, but all I can remember now is it was burned down by The Wolf of Badenoch.

It would've cost £11 to go in and see it up close (cause they've put railings up along the wall at the back so you can't leg it over and get in for free any more :D) so we just looked at it from behind the gates.
