horns of wilmington's cow

Bit of a handful

This Goosander had her work cut out, with a brood of 19 to watch over (and a huge number of gulls hanging about). I'd popped to Musselburgh (the long way, via Fa'side) to see if I could spot the recently sighted Golden Oriole. Little chance of that, one guy I chatted to there suggesting it was effectively being chased all over the place, and the area was busy with a big wildlife event and some mahoosive marquees set up at the boating ponds. So I carried on and sat by the river in the sunshine watching this family.

The huddle in the extras is just the sweetest thing.

Bit shattered now after a day of heavy duty DIYing - though I still couldn't resist the chance of getting in the saddle.

Weekend has passed too quickly yet again.
