Humble Pie

What can you do with a humble pork pie? Apart from eat it, of course.
It was daughter Claire who decided that a little artistic licence would not be amiss — as if I really needed a pork pie late at night. 
On the other hand, who was I to argue, and perhaps she was really only helping to make good use of leftovers from the refrigerator. However, the addition of a tomato, skilfully segmented and a few slices of avocado, all with the choice of a plate that would enhance the decorative appearance, suddenly brought my taste buds to life.
No doubt I would have managed the pork pie on its own, simply by biting into it. But here was supper, literally served on a plate, yet graciously adorned, to turn my unassuming pork pie, into an evening snack with chic appeal.

It is the little tricks like that which bring les petites assiettes to life, acquired through her life with her partner Laurent running a restaurant in the south of France. And a touch of artistic appeal with food.
