Ramadan Approaches

The rhythms of life continue despite all the turbulent interferences of disruptive men who forever try to blow everything into disarray.

Ramadan approaches in Cairo already. It shifts forward between four and six weeks every year as do, consequently, the four Eid holidays. These Muslim moving feasts put the planning 'inconveniences' of the changing dates of the Christian Easter into a whole new perspective.

The start of Ramadan is just over two weeks away but the shops already have the traditional edible and illuminated goodies on display and, as in this scene , there is a certain magic in the air as the fanawee lanterns cast their spell into the night air.

I do hope it will be visible from Heaven for the dear departed from yesterday's crash to see.
