1914 to 1960..Hale School

These gracious old buildings are currently being converted into the Offices for the Premier of Western Australia, as well as being the Constitutional History Centre of WA

The buildings were formerly those of Hale School, an Anglican College for boys first started in 1858 by Bishop Hale in buildings now in the main Street of Perth.

These buildings were built in 1914 when to School moved into the West Perth area in land adjacent to the Perth observatory.

Note :The Government Astronomer's request was that in the siting of the school building the meridian line remained unobstructed by buildings and that the buildings were kept at the single storey height.

p.s

I was fortunate enough to attend this school in 1959 and 1960 before it relocated to its current location in Wembley Downs, some 15 km from Perth

It was fun walking around the old building earlier today, as memories came flashing back....and what good time we had as young bloods in those days, and I suspect quite innocent compared with the young of today.
