Cambridge was really busy today as it was graduation day. Feeling really tired and drained after yesterday's funeral it was lovely to come in to the hairdressers and meet with Peter with whom I love to chat. Over the years we have had some really good discussions. As he is also Jen's hairdresser and an avid blip photo enthusiast we share some mutual interests.
Feeling so much brighter I walked up by the Senate House where all the happy students were standing in their gowns with parents smiling and posing for photos. There was a wonderful, almost carnival especially as there were so many tourists soaking up the sights around Kings College. Cambridge is a fantastic city but much better on a quiet Sunday when you can wander around and realise the contribution that scientists and other famous people have made to the world from here.
Standing outside The Eagle pub on Saturday I felt I could glimpse back in time to hear two scientists announcing their discovery and toasting themselves with a well earned pint of beer. I wonder if they had any idea then how much they would change medicine and crime detection etc. What an exciting moment it must have been.
