Antica Filanda

We left Capri Leone this morning for our second long journey - this time a 200km trek to Siracusa, via Randazzo which is the closest town to Etna's summit. Heavy cloud and rain, mixing in with Etna's current eruption of black ash, made the volcano look very threatening. We didn't linger.

The drive was a bit hairy at times. The rule for driving in Sicily seems to be that there are no rules. Actually, that's untrue. It seems to be compulsory to drive with only one hand, whilst using your other to clamp the mobile phone to your ear, or better still to text and only occasionally look at the road.

But we got to our destination in one piece.

The blip - a series of wooden boards at our starting point, the Albergo Antica Filanda. It's really a (very good) restaurant with rooms, and despite the name (the ancient spinning mill) a modern building. It fits the bill for my personal blip challenge this week - using my phone for a challenge each day, this one is definitely abstract, and there is a circle. What it all means (this is part of the whole) I have no idea, although it does look vaguely Andean
