Morning at the Playground

At 9:30, I got a call from my daughter and Merrick. "Hey Papa, I can do the monkey bars now...do you wanna come see me?" How could I resist that offer?

After arriving and observing, I was trying to not turn this into a Blip rant, BUT...remember the playground equipment of my generation? (I'm 63.)

We were lucky to have 2 swings that had wooden seats, and you always had to worry about splinters in your butt. And, to go along with the swings, was a single metal slide...which would burn your butt in the middle of summer. (Luckily, somebody started worrying about kid's butts, and started building new things.)

Today, a lot of them are made of hard molded plastic, and this type of very smooth wood. BUT, look at the SIZE of this thing. I needed a road map to see all of its features. So many different things to do.

There is even a small place with "bleachers" and a stage. That's where I settled in. In the upper left, Merrick is giving me a song and dance number.

Like I said...a LONG way from the playgrounds of old.
