The Good Bits are at the Bottom!

Dear Diary,

I often stop at the old farm down the road from me to watch the oxen.  I was very amused by this young one who was kneeling to get the hay at the bottom of mound.  Isn't that just like a young one!  The best must be just out of reach.  Maybe he was right!

So much of the "good stuff" is not obvious to us at first.  We have to seek it out...dig for it.  It is always there if we diligently look for it but it is easy to overlook in our daily rush.  For me, that is what contemplation is all about...slowing down and digging deeply.

The camera allows us to do just that if we stay long enough in one spot.  If we don't bounce from place to place like those stones we use to skim across the lake.  Better to let it sink to the bottom and look from the inside out.  The good bits are truly at the bottom!

Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which nature herself is animated.  - Auguste Rodin
