Fishing for . . .

Yesterday we were talking about Lake Hood and neither of us had been there, so today's mission was to rectify that.

I have to say that it was rather disappointing - nothing particularly photographic about it at all aside from some palatial homes on the waters edge.  I admit that it would be photographic at sunrise or sunset so I may well go back there sometime.

Having not really found anything to keep us there, despite having driven right around the lake, we decided to head out to the mouth of the Ashburton River for some sea air.

These guys were preparing their gear when we got there, and it seemed to take them an inordinate amount of time to get organised, especially seeing the young man in the foreground forgot to put his boots on (I don't think his Mum will be pleased to know he was walking down the beach in his socks).

I asked him what they were hoping to catch and he said, "Nothing."  Apparently they have not fished here before, and when  they go out fishing they usually catch nothing.

Hope they caught something today.  More than a telling off from Mum about the soggy, sandy socks.
