Our Saturday adventure
We spent the afternoon admiring the 5 miles of box hedging that are to be found in the Great Garden of Pitmedden.
When the ground is levelled, measure out the bordures, stretch a line and therein set the young slips of box.
- John Reid, the Scots Gard'ner. 1683
On our way home we paused to admire the new highway that is coming our way (see the "extra"). Apparently, when it is complete we shall be able to drive on dual carriage-way roads all the way to the South of Italy, indeed some say to Istanbul (apart from the wet bit between England and France of course). This will be a big change for us, as currently we can't drive on such roads even as far as Aberdeen!
