Aperture on Life

Music Festival

Following on from yesterdays Produce Fair, today was the turn of the Albury Free Music Festival, made even better with the arrival of our first real summers day!

It's an annual event which is hosted entirely by volunteers and funded by generous donations. There is no entry fee other than a bucket for donations, strategically dangled in front of you, at the entrance. Other buckets pass through the throng and there are a couple of raffles to boost the coffers. As with all the local events, it's well attended. There a number of little signs suggesting a £20 donation for putting up one of the many gazebos but most come with a simple picnic in a basket and a blanket.

Of course it's a family affair and there are no shortage of children or dogs but, unlike yesterday, today was about the music so apart from the beer tents, a solitary stand which did amazing face painting, and the bouncy castle, there was nothing other than the stage and of course local butcher, John Murray's meat, barbecued to perfection.

A line up of 14 acts, most of which are local, some of which are excellent, entertained us all afternoon under a bright blue sky. This is a young girl, Emilee, as she came off stage, She's only 17 years of age but has a remarkable voice.

As the afternoon proceeded a large part of the crowd were up and dancing. One woman just happened to overdo the steps with an inappropriate attire, right in front of my lens. I was going to blip it, but well see for yourselves! :)

Another great day... and another disk load of images to sort.
Now it's almost back to Monday!
