Trust your children; not your dog
Today's lesson.
So this morning started with a good early dog walk in the park, followed by a not so good call from my brother letting me know our new appointment date is 18 May. We do have many guarantees that all the results will definitely be there and it won't be moved again. So there is that upside, as I really was beginning to worry we would make the journey and there be nothing at the other end.
The downside was the thought of telling J, especially as he was having another bad day in a series of bad days. Short story...I worried needlessly as he took the news remarkably well. He almost seemed relieved. I think he knew something was up and didn't know what and he had told himself something was going to go wrong and now it had he didn't need to worry anymore. I get this might make him sound like a pessimist, he's really not, he's just incredibly good at managing his own expectations and emotions around situations. And sometimes we forget this and try and manage him. Which has been stressful for us all and, whilst we were acting from the best of intentions, frankly we called this one wrong. Transparency at all times and trusting our boy.
Unlike the mutt...though to be fair I did try and manage her too by putting her flea treatment on when she had her lead on just as we were going out for a walk to stop her from rolling around on her bed and wiping it all off. Instead she waited until we were at the park and rolled around on the freshly mowed grass and wiped it all off. And yes she is sticking her tongue out.
