First Swim.

Very early this morning I was back in the park eager to see how the swan family were faring. I had heard that there were five cygnets by yesterday afternoon. There were seven eggs so two more to hatch. I was very sad to find that there were only four babies, and no eggs in the nest this morning. A little later a friend spotted two lifeless babies in the reeds. We do not know what happened to the seventh egg/baby.
On a happier note, the remaining babies are fine, and had their first swim just before mid day. Then later on in the afternoon when I came back that way both parents and the babes were on an outing on the middle of the pond - see extra photo.
Twenty four hours ago these cygnets were very unsteady,moist little beings, today they are swimming around and preening - amazing!
