Binny Visit

I had resolved to reduce my dependance on mainstream garden centres with their limited stocks and their 3-for-2 offers and explore some plant nurseries around the place.  The first visit was to BInny Plants just up the road.

It is a fabulous place; not easy to find and reached along a road which might be generously described as a 'good track'.  It is clear this place is one where passion for plants is put before commercial riches.  They specialise on peonies but I need to read up on that.

In addition, they have an extensive range of plants.  There was one, golden hops, which I had never seen in mainstream places, but I thought might do well growing up the telephone pole situated in the garden.  I went to investigate.  The label described the feature of the plant with the description ending by suggesting it would look good growing up a telegraph pole.  It was meant to be.

They do not have a cafe but you are invited to help yourself to a cup of tea and leave some contribution in a jar.  Is that not cool?

The blip is of a catkin of a salix which grabbed my attention with its spikiness and downy leaves.

I will return.
