Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2016 Thursday -- Looking at Port San Luis

After teaching my two Thursday morning classes, I headed to the house to get Mr. Fun and the three pups and to begin our adventure to California's Central Coast where we will spend the weekend.

I drove the first 90 minutes through Los Angeles and stopped at McDonalds in the community of Agora, which is in San Fernando Valley. McD's is a great place for a potty stop. Then I asked Mr. Fun if he would drive, and he did. As we were approaching Buellton, Max let us know that he and the two girl pups needed a turn at relieving themselves and also needed to quench their thirst, so we pulled into another familiar McD's. Within 15 minutes we were on the road again.

Several more miles and we were into the midst of a thorough rainstorm. As we drove through what's called the Quad Cities, that includes Pismo Beach, the rain had subsided and I captured this photo of the bay where Avila (a-vi-la) Beach is located (there is a beautiful lighthouse on that hill).

A few more miles north, and were were at the Highway 1 turnoff to go west toward Morro Bay and then Cayucos, where our little lavender house is located. We had a stop at the gas station, then the grocery store, and then we were "home."

We unpacked the car and fed the 3 hungry pups, and then he walked them while I prepared a quick dinner. Afterward we all settled into viewing position to watch the day turn to night, which is more often than not a grand moment.

Good night from Cayucos,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
