Sheringham Point Lighthouse

We drove the Pacific Marine Circle Route today. Duncan to Sooke to Jordan River to Port Renfrew to Mesachie Lake to Cowichan Lake and back to Duncan, about 255 kilometers.

Our discovery was the Sheringham Point Lighthouse (Google Map), south coast of Vancouver Island.

"Eustace Travanion Arden lit the light for the first time on September 30, 1912. Sheringham Point with its dramatic view of the Olympic Mountain Range and close proximity to town had very little turnover. Keeper Arden remained at the station almost thirty-four years, retiring on February 18, 1946."

"In it's 100 years of service to the west coast of British Columbia, Canada the light station at Sheringham Point manned at first, then automated and now with a single green beacon has provided navigation aide, weather information, solace and safety for mariners and the Coast Guard."
