East Meets West

When I returned to England, Mum asked me to choose some things of hers to ship back to Japan. There wasn't much, but this was one thing; a chokin plate of the H.M.S. Victory. How fitting that the pride of Portsmouth should be rendered in a technique used to decorate samurai armour.

Although these goods were shipped surface mail, they only took one week to arrive in Japan. Unfortunately, five items were smashed. Oh well, never mind.
