Clash of the Titans #2
Up early to make it for the first performance of Captain America: Civil War. Outside the theatre was this fun poster where you could place a sticker to indicate your allegiance - Team Cap or Team Iron Man? Looks like more people are with me - Team Iron Man. Captain America comes off as being an arrogant S.O.B., really, refusing to be accountable to anyone but himself no matter how many innocent people have to suffer as he pursues his high ideals. Hmmm, I wonder why Captain America would be portrayed like that? Tony Stark is the pragmatist who understands that high ideals and principles need to take a back seat to the sanctity of human life. Interesting parallels with Batman vs Superman, in which Superman, like Captain America, is the high-minded moralist who unwittingly causes death and destruction all around him, so Batman considers it his duty to bring him down before he unwittingly wipes out all humanity.
Thor is off sorting out troubles in Asgard at the moment so he doesn't get involved in the feud. If he did, I imagine he'd side with Captain America because I can't imagine a god would bend his will to the U.N. Neither would Superman who is, pretty much, a god as well. Another reason for me to side with Batman and Iron Man - I have a big problem with gods.
