I'm Alive Again on a May Morning
11.4C starting wet then drying up. Bright for a time, then clouding over with showers later in the afternoon. Southerly wind to 25 mph with gusts to 36 mph early on with a light WSW breeze from mid morning onwards.
Grocery shopping over by mid morning and the weather brightening we decided to go for a walk on a beach. We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach to Carskey Bay where we had a walk with Maeve the Deerhound from one end of the beach to the other (where a river runs into the sea) and back. Although not a crystal clear day we could still see the 13 miles or so across to the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland. The sea was quite active near the shore and the brighter spell was lighting up the waves as they peaked, just before they crashed onto the sand.
We had Maeve off her lead on the beach and she enjoyed wandering along, sniffing things here and there, and getting her feet wet at the edge of the sea from time to time as the surf ran up the sandy slope towards her. She slept soundly this afternoon.
Before we started out along the beach we played this Runrig song in the car (because I love it !) ...
May Morning (C MacDonald, R MacDonald)
I'm alive again on a May morning
Going to wipe the slate clean
Follow my dreams
All the yearning buds are here again
With the the promise of a new life to come
Spring is here again
The sun is melting over the hills
All our roads are waiting
To be revealed
For this day in history has brought us to here
Now it's all there for the taking
The day is what you see
The light's returning, the work is in hand
All the cynics have vanished
From where we stand
All the chances wasted are drawing me near
And all around there's new life rising
From the winter fields
I'm alive again
I'm alive again

Note: Extras are the beach at Carskey bay. First at the start of the walk, then on the return.
Go large on the wave ... great against the black on a big screen :-)
