Durand, the Railroad Capital of Michigan
We went over to Corunna, Michigan this morning to a craft show. But, on the way we had to pass through Durand...the place of many railroad tracks. (It used to be a game to try to get through the city without being stopped by a train.)
Look at the size of that mural! A former mail customer of mine painted it, and I made Lisa pose in front of it to show how big it is. He had to spend a lot of time in a forklift to finish it. Such talent.
We met a dear old friend of mine for the craft show and lunch. Way back in the day, when we were in our mid-teens, my family and her family, (and several other families with children), were all part of a special church. Wonderful parents, wonderful kids, and great times together. But, things change, and people move.
My dad (the minister of the church) moved us an hour away, and all the church kids that we hung out with...all grew up.
My friend Julie stayed in Corunna all these years. It was nice to see her and catch up...even as we get dangerously close to being OFFICIAL senior citizens.
Old friends are the best friends.
The only thing that Lisa bought at the craft show were some pot scrubbers (to help me wash the dishes.)
