Now that I manage to fit my work stuff in a bag attached to me I can clip the improved double pannier to the back and know that the entirety of the volume thereof may be free for shopping on the way back, with an eighteen-pack of bogrolls bungeed to the top. I experimented with taking the pannier into the shop and packing it as it was scanned, though it didn't really save any time as it makes it more difficult to reattach the pannier to the rack.
