Now, as I see it......

Houghton House

Houghton House is a never ending source of Blip material; a derelict 17th century Hunting Lodge with endless photographic opportunities. It was built in 1615 for the Countess of Pembroke but unfortunately she died not long after it was completed so never enjoyed the property to the full. After various owners the property was stripped of furniture and the roof was removed in 1794 after which it has been open to the elements. English Heritage conserved the ruins in 2006. It is reputed to be the 'House Beautiful' in John Bunyan's 'Pilgrims Progress', and the staircase from the property was relocated to the Swan Hotel in Bedford where it remains to this day.

Many thanks for all the comments and stars for my Blip yesterday. Apologies for the lack of comments at the moment; I'll catch up soon!
