Beyond recycling folk really, really need to think before they toss things in the bin. The growth of this mountain year on year is quite terrifying and apparently it has slowed down with the widescale uptake of blue (recycling) bins in the Highland Council area.

I saw a perfectly good outdoor boot for example (in better condition than the ones I was wearing). Its partner was probably nearby in similar condition. If I was discarding a boot I would salvage the laces, I'm always bursting them, and perhaps the insoles.

What about a tax on throwing good things away.
