Clutching my £10 off offer for an item of clothing at the emporium for ladies of a certain age and older, I braved the midwinter temperatures to check out the choice for light coloured jeans for summer, being more of a jeans and jumper girl than a slick and sophisticated one.

Given that the shoppers here are, in general, robustly built and no longer dolly birds, I am amazed that the jeans on offer are predominantly 'jeggings' or at the very most slim legged. Where are the jeans that cover the circumference of one's legs with an inch or two of fabric to spare? My favourite boot leg jeans were noticeably absent as were the straight legged ones. There were plenty of cut off trousers on offer, which are not a good look on a solidly built lady of many years standing.

The foray however produced 3 blips which I have combined with the help of the near miraculous Internet- a magnolia bud in St Andrew Square, a man with a head for heights suspended from Scott's Monument ( he was in a harness and there did seem to be a safety net underneath him), and the 'deep and kind of round hole' at Quartermile with the accompanying activity therein.
