Thermals

I went on a Dawn Chorus walk on our local common today - 5am start! Hard to believe I had the air con running on the car a few days ago, as I had to scrape the ice off the windscreen today. And it didn't warm up a lot either. Or walk leader, whose patch it is, was keen to boast about the range of species found there - although we were unlikely to see any Buzzards, due to the absence of thermals. They weren't absent - I was wearing them!
The first bird (in the car park)  we saw and heard was one of my target birds, a Tawny Owl. Sadly a photo was out of the question as it was still pitch black. Because it was so cold, the Dawn Chorus was a little underwhelming, but it was still an enjoyable walk, and our guide has a great knack of sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm. So the blip is once more a fallback on a garden favourite - a Blue Tit in a Bay Tree
