It was glorious wether today after a chilly start. We have cleared the garden bed in front of the house which was full of weeds and firewood for the last couple of years. I planted a few herbs and pansies but am reluctant to plant too much before the middle of May. According to local legend, planting for summer should be held off until after the Eisheilige, or ice spirits, which appear 11 - 15th May.  Apparently, the risk of frost is very low after this time and I will probably write more about this later. We covered some of the plants tonight as there is likely to be a frost tonight. I was pleased to see the garden attracting many bees already as well as bumble bees. I am letting the dandelions grow wild in the court yard as the bees love them and they look so cheery. I was able to practise some bee shots and was pleased to see a face - I usually only get bums.
