CannyScot's Day

Church Community Garden

A beautiful, warm sunny day.

I took my wife, Eleanor, over to church so she could help at the Food-bank we run. It was such a glorious day I decided to blip the progress of our Community Garden. Some of you may remember I wrote about this as a possibility some time ago. Over the winter the ground was cleared and these raised beds were established, as well as a sizeable shed (our Pastor does have an Office in the church so no need to go to the shed!)

Most of the work was carried out by a group of folk doing Community Service - benefits all round. We got a grant from the Council so it really has been a community involved Project.

The next stage is to get local schools and groups to take over a bed or beds and grow their produce, some of which can be used for making up 'soup bags' to be given out at the Food-bank.

At home, I had a brilliant Skype call with the Pastor I mentor in Uganda. Their network is back to normal after the disruption caused by their Elections. The Government severely restricted the use of the Network to stop the Opposition organising protests. Needless to say, President Musaveni gained a a further five year term. We should be grateful for the freedoms we have in our western countries.
