Tennis Tuesday...The Serve

Lisa saw a post on Facebook that a young lady from our church was going to be playing tennis at the high school. She plays for the Swartz Creek Dragons, and they were playing my alma mater...the Fenton Tigers.

This is not her. This is the #1 singles player for the Creek. She was very good, with a lethal serve. Her ground strokes were good, too, and she got to practically every ball. Our #1 player from Fenton didn't win one game.

Our little church girl is in the Extras. She plays doubles. While her and her partner didn't win, I was real proud of the way she conducted herself. She continually encouraged her younger partner, AND, she even continually told her opponents..."Good shot."

I certainly never heard those 2 words mentioned in the #1 singles match. From either player.

That being said...I love high school sports. Sport for the sake of sport. Sometimes WAY too much pressure still involved, but it doesn't have the allure of money in the picture.
