Big Society. Small experiment
In February 2010, I thought I'd empower myself with the decision to innoculate a few trees in the garden with mistletoe. My exciting parcel of life arrived one day, consisting of fifteen fresh berries in a plastic petri dish together with instructions. I climbed trees, sticky seeds between finger and thumb, pushing the pips onto the smaller branches of thorn and apple (No cuts to bark need be made). As a measure against losses to predators, I caged each branch in a galvanised mesh cell, which seems to have helped. This is a waiting game and I have had some losses, but, as you can see, some success too. The host trees (in this case, crab) have neat little swellings where the aliens have invaded. It would be great to have a little bit of Worcestershire in Lancashire.
