Looks Good To Me

Earthquakes Class

Today was the first day of class at Grandparents U. Grandson B and I were taking the class on earthquakes and volcanoes, while Cynthia and granddaughter Z were taking an art class. We only covered earthquakes today -- we'll get to volcanoes tomorrow

The classes are designed for kids ages 7-14, so some of the material was a little over 8-year old B's head, but he really enjoyed the hands-on activities and demonstrations. This photo shows a demonstration of how earthquake energy is propagated by wave action. The kids found it very entertaining.

There are a couple of other experiments shown in my Flickr photostream.

I think the highlight of the academic day for both grandchildren was the buffet lunch in the cafeteria. There were enough choices for all tastes, and it was all-you-can-eat. C, the locavore, was impressed by the number of locally-sourced items, including ice cream. Three out of four members of our party had second helpings of ice cream. (No names will be mentioned, but I was not one of them).

No visit to Bellingham is complete without a visit to La Fiamma and Mallard Ice Cream. We checked off both both items this evening.
