Why use a footpath...

So, walking around Cairo isn't for the unfit or less abled. Generally people walk on the road as its flatter and a little more even than the footpaths which go up and down and have things poking out of them etc etc etc. so, the walk home tonight got more complicated when this bit on a busy bridge had been dug up. No bunting, no signs, just a dug-up path. I pretended I was a tightrope walker and walked on the top edge of the kerb. Even then a car came perilously close, as they do. I'm glad I didn't walk on the road...
