A sniff of the sea
I am only a few miles from the sea but it is curiously inaccessible. The nearest beach is around 30 miles away and even if I go down to the salt marshes of the Wash, the sea is still only visible as a distant ribbon. I have tried on several occasions to walk out but only managed it once. The network of creeks, only some of which can be stepped over or jumped, make it a difficult, even hazardous enterprise. At least the gulls remind me that the coast is not far away.
This morning I did some packing for our forthcoming visit to the Pyrenees and in the afternoon helped out at the Bureau.
