Natural environment
It's MonoMonday, hosted by davidc this month, and today's theme is environment in honour of this week's Earth Day. Of course nowadays the term is mostly used in relation to pollution and sustainable energy, but obviously environment has much to do with the nature around us.
When we returned back to the home in Belgium yesterday in the late afternoon I noticed something really strange had happened on/to our lawn in the back garden during our absence yesterday afternoon. It looked like during the day loads of bits of moss had popped up. I did go outside to see just what that was and indeed these were/are bits of uprooted moss. I very much doubt that my friendly squirrels or birds decided to do some moss weeding yesterday afternoon and any moss in the lawn is only thriving around the edges of the lawn anyway, so there has to be some other explanation.
It was Sunday and that's definitely not a day that our gardener could have turned up and even so he would have hardly gathered moss to place it on the lawn, so the only thing I can think of is that this is moss from the roof which has been blown down by a major gust of wind. Again, birds or squirrels deciding to get rid of the moss on the roof would not have dumped it midway the lawn (nor humans for that matter). So it must have been something natural ...
See the extras for the colour version and a bit of an overview.
Well. here's my contribution for today's MonoMonday, the mystery of the uprooted moss mass in the middle of our lawn, the mystery of our natural environment, and how it looked this morning with the sun on the moss. With thanks to davidc !
Thank you for your comments and stars for yesterday's street decorations in Bergen op Zoom :-)
