Rodents rule

Double trouble

Mrs Squirrel is on the sunflower hearts and Mr Squirrel is at the peanuts. I'm glad that rodents have ever-growing teeth, otherwise I'd be worried about these two nibbling around metal.

I've spent the day at home sorting out a few bits and bobs. There was only one fox, Bushy-Black, spotted this morning. I had a lunchtime visit from the robin who pecked some dried mealworms from the bench next to where I was sitting. The pigeons are far too scaredy to do what brave robin did.

Mr and Mrs Blackbird have made a fabulous nest that I can see from my side kitchen window. I'm doing my best to ignore it in case peeking disturbs them. It's the third year in a row that they've nested in the hedge. The past two broods were killed by cats – we were all heartbroken. There are far fewer cats around this time, though, so I hope this batch make it through to adulthood. In the meantime, Mrs Blackbird is out for all the beasties she can eat! I don't think there are eggs in the nest yet as it's often unoccupied (I'm really trying not to peek too often, but it's right by the window...)

The guinea pigs had an afternoon in the outdoor run, where it was sunny for a time. There was even some warmth to the golden orb. Hooray!
